![]() There were also the asshole American soldiers who shouted "Jap" and showed no mercy. ![]() In contrast, there were the stereotypical asshole Japanese soldiers who wanted to go out in a blaze of glory. Plenty of Americans also offered mercy to the Japanese, even after the MC went into a rage. The Colonel-Baron was also just doing his job, and sympathized with America because he had American friends. The general is just trying to do his job the best he can, it isn't out of malice or hatred, he is just doing the task he was assigned because that was his duty. It also isn't really patriotic to either side, the MC just wants to go home to his bakery and his wife. There are American assholes and decent people. Iwo Jima just shows that the war sucks, there are Japanese assholes and decent people. In Japanese ones the Japanese are shown to be some poor patriotic underdogs who are fighting a giant empire of racist American assholes. ![]() ![]() In American films it is all about American glory and the Japanese are portrayed like clones from Kamino who are crazy brave, brutal, and overall savages. I feel like it is the perfect balance between Japan and America.
